Who We Are
My wife and I grew up in the ethnic melting pot of Northern and Southern California. In college I had Korean, Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese and Indian roommates which gave me a deep love for people from other cultures. Towards the end of my undergraduate years of studying Electrical Engineering, I felt God wanted me to go to seminary. Afterwards, I answered a call to go to Ohio to be an assistant pastor. There I married my beautiful wife Emmy and we worked together in that church for 12 years. I was surprised when Jesus asked us to move to Lilburn in the Atlanta area and start a church called Discipleship International.
God has been preparing us for this moment
With a name like Discipleship International, I didn’t know at first what God had planned, but God sure knew what he was doing. In the next few weeks we had people from Australia and New Zealand contacting us asking to be discipled. Then God started bringing to us Chinese, Indian, and Korean grad students from Georgia Tech who didn’t know Jesus and they began finding forgiveness of sins and a new life in Jesus!
God has plans for Discipleship International and Lilburn!
In 2014 God spoke to me and challenged me to take Discipleship International to a larger level and we were to launch this church in a much more public way.
Nathanael is the lead pastor and Emmy leads the children’s ministry.
Meet Our Amazing Team
Deborah Powlison
Debbie is a board member and leads our prayer team.
She also has a global prayer ministry and often travels to serve others in prayer, bringing God's help and healing
Chris and Tessa Althausen
Chris is an elder who preaches, leads the men's group and the growth track.
Tessa leads the Mothers of Preschoolers group.
Hanjun
Fang
Hanjun leads our outreach team.
He also oversees the translation team and serves as a Chinese translator.
Justin Powlison
Justin shares in the preaching along with organizing parts of the ministry and participating in the worship team.
Micaiah L'Heureux
Micaiah leads the young adults ministry, preaches, and leads the AV team.
Joseph L'Heureux
Joseph leads our worship team along with leading the junior high Sunday school class.
What We Believe
There is one living and true God, infinite in love, glory, wisdom, holiness, justice, and power, one in His essence but eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The books which form the canon of the Old and New testaments as originally given are fully inspired by God and free from all error in the whole and in the part. These books constitute the written word of God, the only infallible rule of faith and practice.
God sovereignly created the world out of nothing, so that His creation, while wholly dependent upon Him, neither comprises part of God, nor is a condition of His essential perfection.
